Care and support systems
Multidisciplinary care
Several different professions looking after you together, ideally seeing you in one visit.
What it means
Rather than separate appointments arranged separately, the professions involved in ALS/MND care coordinate. In a full clinic several are seen in one visit, which reduces travel and means they discuss your care with each other rather than through you.
Why you might hear it
- It describes how most specialist ALS/MND clinics are organised.
- Where a full clinic is not available, the same people may still coordinate.

About this explanation
These are plain explanations of words you may come across, not advice about your own situation. Where a word matters to a decision, the question pages go into it properly, and your own team is the place to take it.
