Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy

One way of placing a feeding tube, guided by a camera passed down through the mouth.

What it means

A thin camera goes down the throat into the stomach so the team can see exactly where to place the tube from the outside. It needs sedation and the camera has to pass the throat, which is part of why the alternative is sometimes preferred.
