An analysis of 2,256 publications from 2006 to 2025 found that ALS immunotherapy research increased 8.4-fold and shifted toward topics including the gut-brain axis, C9orf72-associated immune changes, and newer immune-modulating strategies. Regulatory T-cell modulation and microglia-targeted approaches were identified as having the greatest translational readiness. The study also found limited integration between laboratory researchers and clinical trial groups.
