Researchers used sex-stratified Mendelian randomization to assess whether genetically predicted levels of 932 immune-related proteins were linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The study included separate female and male ALS datasets, but its reported sex-differential and validated findings concerned Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease rather than ALS.
Why this matters
