Population inferred from the title and abstract by Compass.
A study evaluated the Japanese version of the Voice Activity and Participation Profile (VAPP-J) in 100 people with voice disorders and 52 students without them. The tool showed high internal consistency, correlated strongly with the Voice Handicap Index, distinguished the two groups, and improved after voice therapy.【S1】
Why this matters
VAPP-J may support clinical assessment of voice disorders in Japanese-speaking populations.【S1】 The study did not include people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or motor neurone disease, so it does not establish that the tool is useful for assessing speech or voice changes in those conditions, or that it changes treatment.
Limitations and context
This was a validation study in people with voice disorders and students, not an ALS/MND study. It included 100 patients and 52 students, and the source does not report longer-term follow-up or comparisons with ALS/MND-related communication problems. The evidence comes from one primary research article.
