A systematic review and computer-based analysis identified 15 circular RNAs linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and related motor neuron diseases. The researchers found that these molecules may affect processes involved in ALS, including cellular stress, cell death and regulation of ALS-related genes. Patient RNA-sequencing data also showed changes in genes linked to these circular RNAs in affected central nervous system tissue.
