Researchers screened more than 6,000 compounds in spinal motor neurons made from ALS patient-induced pluripotent stem cells. They identified one compound that increased neurofilament light chain levels by more than 50% and a later compound that performed better in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic tests without affecting TGF-β signaling.
