Fuelling the future of MND research

Fuelling the future of MND research (opens in a new tab)The Motor Neurone Disease Association hosted its annual MND EnCouRage event in Loughborough on 14–15 July 2026. More than 20 early-career researchers attended sessions on communication, clinical trials and research priorities, and met people affected by MND.
Why this matters
The event supports networking and collaboration among researchers at the start of their careers while helping them understand the experiences and priorities of people with MND. It is a research-development initiative, not a treatment or clinical result, so it does not change treatment for people living with MND now.
Limitations and context
This account comes from the MND Association, the organisation that hosted the event, rather than from independent reporting or a peer-reviewed study. It describes an event and participant feedback, not research findings or evidence that the event will lead to a treatment benefit.
