MND EnCouRage UK: Looking back at four years of supporting the next generation of MND researchers
The MND EnCouRage event has brought together 64 early-career researchers in its first four years, according to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The organisation says approximately 53 remain active in MND research. A further 22 researchers are due to attend the 2025 event.
Why this matters
The programme is intended to develop research skills, connections and careers in MND research. This may help sustain the future research workforce, but the figures do not show that the event itself caused researchers to remain in the field or produced new treatments. People living with MND can also meet researchers and contribute their experiences at the event.
