MND EnCouRage UK 2026: celebrating five years of supporting early career researchers
The 2026 MND EnCouRage UK event brought together 22 early career researchers, 11 guest speakers and people living with or affected by motor neurone disease (MND). The programme included research presentations, career workshops, a clinical trial design discussion and opportunities for collaboration. Topics presented by researchers included artificial intelligence for detecting MND types and repeat physical trauma as a possible risk factor.
Why this matters
The event gave people affected by MND an opportunity to hear about ongoing research and share lived experience with researchers. It also supported networking and career development for early career researchers. This is a research-community and engagement event, not evidence that any treatment has become available or changed.
