MND EnCouRage UK 2025: Encouraging the future leaders of MND research
The 2025 MND EnCouRage UK event brought together 21 early-career researchers from the UK and Ireland and more than 25 people living with or affected by motor neurone disease (MND). The two-day event included research presentations, career and communication workshops, and discussions about involving the MND community in clinical trial design.
Why this matters
The event gave researchers opportunities to develop skills, build connections and hear directly about life with MND. It also created a forum for people affected by MND to learn about current research and discuss how community perspectives can inform study design. This was a research-support and engagement event, not a clinical study, so it does not change treatment or establish a new therapy.
Limitations and context
This account comes from an organisational blog published by the Motor Neurone Disease Association, rather than a peer-reviewed research paper. It reports activities and attendance at one event, not research results or evidence that the event will lead to specific treatments or changes in care.
