Researchers reported an in vitro method for making and detecting GC-rich short tandem repeat RNAs, including a sequence from the C9ORF72 gene. The fluorescence-based test used reverse transcriptases to identify copied RNA products from very small amounts of sample. The work was conducted in vitro and is intended to support future studies of disease-related repeat RNAs.
