A study in 15 healthy adults found that low-intensity electrical stimulation reliably produced F-wave responses in three intrinsic hand muscles. The muscles showed different recruitment patterns, with the abductor digiti minimi responding more steeply at low intensities than the other muscles. The researchers said this approach may help investigate the split-hand phenomenon in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
