Meet Libby, a new member of the Research Team
Libby has joined the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association’s Research Information team. She described PhD research in mice that found changes in microRNAs in microglia, muscle and blood during MND-like disease. Some changes were also being compared with microRNAs reported in people with MND, but that work is continuing.
Why this matters
The research may help scientists understand how cells communicate in MND and assess microRNAs as possible blood biomarkers or therapeutic targets. It was conducted mainly in a mouse model and does not currently change treatment for people living with MND.
