Researchers used artificial intelligence (AI)-based three-dimensional image analysis to map TDP-43 inclusions associated with tau tangles in brain tissue. The study found that mature combined TDP-43 and tau inclusions were common across the examined regions, with differences between regions and disease groups. The study examined Alzheimer’s disease, primary age-related tauopathy and related co-pathology, not amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or motor neurone disease.
